Job Details: Controller - Drayage & Intermodal Operations

Onsite - Hybrid potential after onboarding
Full-Time - $95,000-$110,000 + 10-15% Bonus

  We're looking for a proactive, hands-on Controller to take charge of the financial health and strategic direction of a growing drayage and intermodal logistics company. In this pivotal role, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team and collaborate closely with operations to ensure alignment between financial performance and business goals.
  
  This position is ideal for a seasoned finance leader with a solid background in accounting and deep expertise in the intermodal and transportation sector. If you're passionate about numbers, logistics, and operational efficiency - we want to hear from you.
  
  Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the financial reporting process (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial insights and KPI dashboards to leadership
  • Develop annual budgets and forecasts; monitor and optimize budget performance
  • Oversee cash flow, AP/AR, and banking relationships
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities across intermodal operations
  • Conduct profitability analysis by route, service line, and customer
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific requirements (e.g., IFTA, IL EPA)
  • Manage audits, payroll, employee benefits, fuel tax filings, and insurance coverage
  • Establish and maintain internal controls; assess financial risk and exposure
  • Lead or support a small accounting/finance team What We're Looking For
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
    • 5+ years of experience in a senior finance or controller role
    • Drayage, intermodal, or transportation/logistics industry experience is REQUIRED
    • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial compliance, and logistics-specific financial metrics
    • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
    • Analytical, detail-oriented leader with excellent communication skills
